Demonica Week Day #5 - Author Guest Post by Larissa Ione

41 comments

This week is going by so fast! I will miss it when it's gone. But, It is NOT gone yet, so... Welcome to day #5 of Demonica Week and I have an awesome guest here today =)

The one and only Larissa Ione is here and talking about the Role of Social Media Networks (Facebbok, twitter...) on Her life.

Welcome Larissa! My blog is your blog:

~~~
"Hi everyone!
I’m so excited to be here for Demonica week (I mean, seriously – how cool is that???) at Larissa’s Life. (Doesn’t she have a cool name? *g*)
Anyway, I asked Larissa for a suggestion for a blog post, and she thought it might be neat to talk about social media. Great idea, because things like Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter have been providing for a lot of communication between readers and authors, and I love it.
Oh, there are the downsides – say something stupid, and it’s out there for EVERYONE to see. It’s also really easy to take something out of context, especially on Twitter, where you only have 140 characters to communicate. And one of the worst parts? It’s kind of like being in an office, where you can overhear people talking bad about you. Yeah, I’ve heard some real, um, interesting things about what a few readers think of my books on Twitter!
But there’s the good side too! I have met SO many fantastic people (including Larissa) on Twitter, blogs, and Facebook. I’ve also gotten some great book and shopping recommendations, discovered new blogs, and have even used social networking for research. Yep – throw a question out on Twitter, and someone will know the answer or point you to the right place to get the answer.
So…what about you? Do you participate in any of the social media craziness? If so, what have you liked the most about it?
Thanks again for having me, Larissa!"
Thanks for stopping by Larissa!
    Cool post. I do have a FB and twitter account but I am not used to doing FB updates still and am still learning twitter. A lot of people I know also started a linkedin account. So I have one of those too but its pretty empty. Theres a lot of ways to get connected now, it just takes some time to figureo ut the right one for you and to use it.
  4. Great idea for an interview! Twitter is great and bad just for the reasons she mentioned. I've found so many new authors through twitter that I don't know how I survived before! :)
  5. Beleth says:
    I started with facebook, and at the beginning i was really addicted, but now i always check twitter first, i really like the way you can talk with authors and say random things to people you know XD
  6. Elie says:
    did you see the size of that monitor? great post, I try to avoid facebook and twitter when possible I spend enough time on the computer as it is.
  7. CallMeKayla says:
    I just so CANNOT WAIT for Lore's book!! I fell in love with him in Wrath's book, so I can only imagine how gaga I'll go when I read his actual book!! ;)
  8. Camille says:
    This post has been removed by the author.
  9. Camille says:
    HII LARISSA!! :D :D :D (aside from the Demonica series, which I love, I'm also a HUGE ACRO fan which I loved first lol :P)
    As for social media, I can say I've nver had a myspace, but I did have a friendster and still do have a multiply account, as well as a facebook one (where I'm most active) as well as twitter-pretty active on that one too and I think it's awesome cause that's where I get to actually 'talk' with authors. I squee at my computer screen to every reply or initiated tweet convo rofl
  10. Looking good Larissa at your desk working hard on your next book :)
  11. Hey! Happy Demonica week. Loving this office picture.
  12. Hi Larissa and Larissa! Wow, that is a big monitor - I think if mine was that big I'd have giant eyes all day long LOL! Love your books and am excited about your next release.
    I do like twitter and facebook although I'm not comfortable enough to utilize them well yet.
  13. I've become part of the social media craziness through Facebook and I actually enjoy how I can easily communicate with friends through it or get back in touch with old ones.
  14. This is awesome that Larissa Ione posted a blog on your blog, Larissa! (Whoa, Larissa overload!)
    The Demonica series is amazing, and so is Demonica Week!
    I am way too into the social networks- I like the substituting of personal human contact? haha
  15. I like the idea of throwing a question out there on Twitter. Perhaps I'll try it. ;)
    Great post!
    I envy you the monitor!
  16. *waves*
    Hi everyone!!! Thanks for stopping by! And ack! That picture! I look like a roll of multi-flavored LifeSavers! LOL
    And yeah, the monitor is a little huge...that's my husband's desk! I now have a laptop I have practically glued to my lap!
    Brieva13...oh, I can't wait for you to meet Sin! I love her! And yes, she's Lore's sister -- he has a human mother...*winks*
  17. Hi. Wow, that is such a BIG monitor.
    I want one. :)
    I have heard so many great things about this series I cannot wait to read it
    I tweet and FB a lot. Probably to much but I've met so many wonderful people I can't fault it. It's my own fault I talk so much. :)
    I ignore the haters on those sites though. Life is to short to mess with them.
  18. I just took a class on informal political processes and social networking was a huge topic. My professor encouraged us to open a Twitter account and we started a political blog (http://informalpoliticalprocesses-09.ning.com/profile/SarahGarza). I love Twitter because it is easier to connect with people who share my interests. It is also easier to get instant news. I don't go on Facebook that much anymore, but I am constantly on Twitter.
    About throwing out questions: I threw out a question to @Bostontweet, supposedly he knows everything about Boston, and I asked him about jazz clubs in Boston. He replied 30 mins later with a few good places. So awesome!
  19. Sarah says:
    I'm probably a little too hooked on facebook & twitter. It can be hard to keep up with things (especially on twitter with so many updates all the time) but I love the way a lot of my fave authors are able to share so much information through the social networks. It adds an extra touch as you feel like you get to know them a bit :o)
  20. Larissa says:
    Great post, Larissa! Thanks!
    (Can I just say, it is totally weird to see all of the Larissas in this post?! Hees).
  21. i swore i wasn't going to open a twitter account but bloging changed all that! i love social media like fb & twitter--definitely a great way to connect with people :)
  22. Twimom227 says:
    Another fun post! Demonica week rocks!
    I started using FB about 15 months ago, and Twitter only within the past 3-4 months. FB was great for connecting with friends I hadn't seen in years or showing off photos to family far away.
    However, with Twitter, things have changed. I have "met" so many great individuals (like Larissa of this blog) and found new friends that share in my love of reading and similar books. It's been so much fun. PLUS - I have had fun twitter "chats" with some of my FAVORITE authors - Like Larissa Ione (I still think of you when I see fruit flies!). And I've also learned about so many new (to me) authors via Twitter. It's a fun time. And I still get all fan-girl geeky when I get a return tweet from any of my favorite authors. Yea!
  23. I think Twitter is fantastic way to follow people and know what's going on in the book world. It's great that authors are tweeting and sharing news on there as well. :)
  24. Thanks for your comments guys! You are so great!
    xoxo
    =)))
  25. SiNn says:
    sorry im late lol better late thennever i guess
    im on twitter and face book and fubar and my year book and myspace and yahoo and i get sooo confused when comes to twitter sometime si post and still am lost lol
  26. I started with a older blog called xanga, then myspace, then facebook, blogger and now twitter too. Its a madness, but its all to keep connected some way.
    Hi Larissa! What are you working on now?
    cindyc725 at gmail dot com
  27. Amanda says:
    I do have twitter and absolutely love it. I have come across so many new authors that I love!!!
  28. Great post Larissa & Larissa! ;) I must admit that I am a techie - I couldn't do without my email, laptop, internet, twitter, facebook... I have them all! lol I love connecting with people, especially people who love books, like me!
    What a great week you're having Larissa - you are doing a top-notch job! Loving it! :)
  29. Ohmygod Larissa and Larissa together on one post. Awesome!
    I'm a big fan of social media as my day job as an internet marketer. The only drawback is now I can't seem to step away from twitter, it's like an addiction.
    Great interview Larissa (not Ione)
  30. Hi Larissa and Larissa! I've always been a fan of myspace and facebook. Then just a couple months ago started a blog. I always swore I would never do the whole twitter thing....but since I started my blog I'm losing my resolve, everyone that I talk to on here has twitter accounts and I'd like to be able to stay in touch with them, and the authors that I love, better.
  33. Casey says:
    Great post Larissa! I use twitter too and the 140 characters can be a pain in the put, especially why you try to explain something. I love using social networks because I find out about so many great books and get to talk to some awesome people and even authors, which is so cool.
  34. I love your books Larissa!!
  35. Social networking is so much fun for this very reason, look at all of us strangers out here in computer land coming together to chat with someone whose books we all love so much! How cool is that?
    Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Delicious, Flickr, Glue, have so many ways to play with others and spend way too much time on Twitter these days but great way to find authors/books/shopping and chat with others.....
    Larissa thanks for doing Demonica week and thanks to Larissa Ione for coming out to "play" with us fans!!!
    I have a FB account which I very rarely check.. I'm mainly twitter & email.
    I really like all the information I get on twitter esp. the new books coming out. That means my I want it list has gotten huge, but at least I know about them now. Big plus.. some of the tweets are just too funny.
