Kane-copy-200

“Kane Gunn is beyond frustrated. He has a kill order to fulfill and after weeks of chasing his quarry he's boiling over with tension. Then he catches the woman who's become his obsession and Kane becomes consumed by a desire that overwhelms everything...including his quest for justice.

Lara is determined to seek revenge against the were-cougar guardians. Consequences don't matter and distraction isnÆt an option. Until she finds herself face to face with the pair of green eyes that have been haunting her day and night. Time is of the essence as the tables are turned and a tenuous truce is formed.

In the face of passion enemies become lovers, tempting fate, testing trust, and satisfying an undeniable need. Lies and secrets. Corruption and Revenge. Choices that change lives. Don't miss the revelation...of Kane.”

Kane
*Check out my review of the first book in this series, Lucas, HERE!

After reading “Lucas” a while back, I was really looking forward to “Kane”, specially because Kane’s HEA was supposed to be with one of the villains from “Lucas”

I loved the idea of the leading lady in this book being the bad guy in the one before. It was great finding out why Lara was so bent on killing the bothers and I have to say her story was very compelling and I couldn’t help but understand her plea.

Kane is a black cougar, which means that he is the assassin of the cougar clan. His latest job has been hunting the woman that tried to kill his brother and his mate, but what he can’t understand is why his blood boils when he is close to her.

Lara hell-bent on getting revenge on the people that killed her mother and nothing is getting her way, well, that is until she and Kane get together and the chemistry gets too be too much to be denied.

I liked this book so much better than Lucas, one of the things that bothered me in the previous book was a certain lack of more explanation on how things worked in the cougar clan and better overview of the world Eliza Gayle created in general.

In Kane we get to understand how things work in this world much better and I have to say that there is a lot of potential for great plots. The idea of a council that is set in its ways and of community members that start to question the status quo, is always interesting.

I loved Kane and Lara together, they are perfect for each other and their chemistry was definitely sizzling. Their story was very well told and just in the right pace, seeing them change from enemies to mates was simply awesome!

Kane just got me more excited about this series and I can’t wait for the next and I believe last installment on the series coming out in June, Malcom. The only thing that bothered me in kane was that i wish it was a longer novel, i wanted more.

“I need my Social Media!

Social Media seems to be changing the way the world communicates faster than I can say “Let me twitpic this” and more and more authors have embraced the changes. And yes if you follow me on twitter you’ll see that I use twitpic to send out the most random pictures.

I love social media. If I had time I’d twitter all day and compete in facebook games as much as possible. Writing is such a solitary activity that social media has emerged not only as a promotional tool but something far more important. It’s our water cooler. We can sit in our home offices with not a soul in sight but with Twitter, a fellow writer, a reader, a family member or a celebrity is only 140 characters away.

A lot of articles get published about how authors can use social media in their promotional efforts and I don’t disagree but if you aren’t willing to engage with people it might not be the right tool for you. I started out by setting up a Facebook page and promptly forgetting about it. Of course nothing happened and I thought I hated it.

Twitter came along and I decided to check it out. I went from author wanting to promote to huge fangirl as I realized I could chat with authors who I admire and find more people to share my love of reading with. Take Goodreads for example. I don’t know a lot of people in real life who read the same kind of books I do, so Goodreads has become my bookclub where I get to share my thoughts on the books I’ve read and compare them to others.

I love checking in everyday and seeing what my online friends are reading or marking to read. My TBR list has grown exponentially but that’s okay because I’m having fun. Sure I hope that people will check out my books and enjoy them but first and foremost I am a voracious reader who can’t go a day without reading at least a few pages from a fiction novel.

The biggest challenge now becomes how to balance social media with the rest of life, particularly our work life. Writing books takes time and most experts will agree that the best thing an author can do for their career is to write the next book. So enjoy yourself on Twitter or Facebook by taking some time to get to know those around you but don’t forget it’s a public forum on the internet. Whatever you say will live there forever. J

I’ve heard a lot of comments lately on what is and isn’t appropriate for an author to say on their social media sites but I’d like to hear from you the reader.

When you follow an author what do you want to know and how much is too much?

Here’s where you can find me if you’d like to connect. (I’d love to hear from you!)

Lala's Book Corner: Lucas by Eliza Gale

"Kira MacDonald is in trouble. Plagued by false visions and erotic dreams of a man she-s never met, she fears losing both her psychic powers and her sanity. The cure? Finding and bonding with her mate. The stubborn red-haired warrior might not want one, but fate has other plans, plans that include her rescuing Lucas Gunn.

As the Guardian of his shape-shifting clan, Lucas Gunn lived a quiet, solitary life. Until he was kidnapped, examined, and tortured. Now imprisoned, his only tie to the outside world is the memory of his dreams and the passionate woman who appears in them. He thought she was nothing more than a vision. Then she came for him.

An uneasy alliance, a mating call that won-t be denied, rituals that must be honored, and unrelenting enemies who will stop at nothing to get what they want. It all comes together in the first of Eliza Gayle-s sensational Black Cougar Series. Passion and pride. Duty and danger. In the end, there-s really only one choice-for Lucas."

From GoodReads.

**Book Given to me for review, but the thoughts are all my own.

I have such a thing for alpha males that when the review request for this book cameup, I jumped at the chance.

Lucas and Kira's story is very interesting, intriguing and fun to nerve recking. They have similar origins but have so many secrets to hide from each other that it takes a long time for them to realize they are on the same side.

Lucas is a shifter and has been captured by people who want him to shift right in front of them. Kira is psychic and has been having visions of her mate, Lucas, while he is in danger.

She rushes off and saves him, but he doesn't trust her at first and thinks she is just one of the bad guys trying to get him to put down his guard.

I really enjoyed the ups and downs of both of them and seeing them falling for each other. The sex scenes are really hot and Lucas has such a kinky side that its easy to get all hot and bothered reading it.

The only thing that bothered me in the book was a certain lack of back story. I mean, we get to sort of understand about the clans Kira and Lucas come from and a bit about their rules, but in my opinion a lot was left out and it was enough to leave me confused for a while. I get the need to keep a certain mystery, but it felt as if I was supposed to know some of it and I didn't.

Other than that, Lucas was definitely a fun read. I recommend it for any fans of paranormal smut out there and I am happy to know that there will be more books in this series, Im definitely looking forward to them =)
