The blog featured today is “My Love Affair With Books!

mishas blog my love affair wih books

I’ll let Misha tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

I am Misha , 20 years old, a severe book addict, a compulsive book buyer and a social recluse ! I am from New Delhi, India.I think I must have been around 6 years old , when my father bought me my first book. It was a book of fairy tales with colorful pictures. I still have it (though my sister tried to make mincemeat out of it when she was around 3 years old . I bravely rescued it from her clutches.....). My parents would read to me when I couldn't read myself and I think without them , I wouldn't have loved books as much as I do.
I started my blog on July 29th 2010. All my life right from when I was a kid, I have been a voracious reader.I need books , like I need to breathe. I started the blog because I wanted to share my love for books with all other book addicts like me. I love reviewing and talking endlessly about books. No one among my friends was willing to listen to me go on and on about books lol So I chose this platform to express my love for books.
My favorite genres are literary fiction, historical fiction, gothic mystery and fantasy. Some of my favorite authors are Anne Tyler, Joyce Carol Oates,Sarah Dunant, Carol Goodman,Kate Morton, Libba Bray, Tana French, Philippa Gregory, Alison Weir and many many more.
Apart from books, my interests are  music , dancing, movies, web designing, feminism, pencil shading, randomly talking about nothing in particular, laughing at my own jokes and daydreaming 24/7.
I am currently pursuing MA(Psychology). I want to specialize in Organizational Behavior , which is a branch of Psychology. My career interest is in HRM(Human Resource Management).

The blog featured today is “That's What I'm Talking About!

thats what Im talking about blog

I’ll let Jen {Twimom227} tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

I started blogging in January 2010. Basically, I was meeting a whole bunch of great women on Twitter and many of them had book blogs. I really enjoyed reading their blogs and interacting with them on Twitter and thought "maybe I'll give it a try." The original intent of my blog was going to be random thoughts, things that were going on with me, my family, etc. - it most definitely was NOT going to be a book review blog. I didn't think I had the ability to write a meaningful or interesting review. However, after I posted a few "That's What I'm Thinking About" thoughts on books, I got some really great feedback and encouragement. In addition, I received some tweets from authors that that I adore, and they appreciated the reviews. That was when I realized I wanted more from my blog and I got serious about reviews, the look of my blog, the content, etc. I reached out to fellow bloggers for assistance and I am really proud of what I have accomplished.

The things I love the most about blogging: receiving and reading ARCs, chatting with other readers and bloggers, meeting new and favorite authors, having a place to state my opinions.

The things I hate about blogging: trying to keep up with reading so I can write reviews! Now that I blog and am active on Twitter, I find less and less time to read and that in turn gives me less to blog about!

Thanks for the opportunity to tell your followers about my blog!

I’ll let Jennzah tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

I started blogging when i was about 20 something, but i really started book blogging earlier last year due to my heavy love of Urban Fantasy. i've been reading Urban Fantasy since i was about 9 and I wanted to share what i thought with the world. my favourite author is Jeri Smith-Ready.

what i love about book blogging and blogging in general is that i have complete freedom to do what i want, when i want, how i want to do it. nobody can tell me what's right and what's wrong. i have complete control over my opinions because it's my site. i also love reviewing books and helping other people get into the books that i love.

what i hate about blogging? sometimes you meet people who take advantage of your relationships with your contacts and what not and use it to their own devices, like to get free books and what not.  i've met a few people along the way recently who have done that to me simply because i know this person and they want to i also hate the narrow mindedness of some people on their sites and people who dont give fair reviews. all an author wants to know is how people liked their book, but not in a negative way! :)

The first blog featured today is “Oh My Books!”:

      ohmybooks1

I’ll let Gaby tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

Oh My Books! is a blog where I post book reviews, book news, book giveaways...anything related to books! I've been reading since I was a kid, so yes, I'm a book addict/lover. Last year I started blogging about books (in Spanish) and I liked it so much that I decided to start a blog in English. This two months blogging at Oh My Books! have been awesome, and I have met a lot of cool people who also like to read. :) I wish I could spend all my day reading and blogging, but I'm also a veterinary student (which I love, really, except when I can't find time to read!).

        *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

The second blog featured today is “Among The Muses”:

        4629401215_dfd5ba484c_o

I’ll let Tanya tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

Thank you Larissa for inviting me to your home-away-from-home today. Although, I'm surprised to see all the scantly clothed men walking around. And, is that a tray of snacks and drinks that dark haired one is bringing us? You sure do know how to welcome a person!
Alright, so I suppose I should talk about the real reason I'm here, how I started blogging and the things I like, and don't like, about it.

For me, my blog originally started off as a personal place for me to reflect on books I was reading and new releases and events that were popping up in the literary world. I continued doing this for about a month before my amazing friend Missie, at The Unread Reader, showed me the magical door to the Blogiverse, and I was swept away in awe! I felt like a kid in a candy store with all the new blogs and people offering up goodies and fantastic recommendations! Right from the beginning I was submersed in new information on new-to-me books and authors, and all the blogger perspectives and fun things they were sharing that they had found. Soon I found my blog taking on a different look and feel as I began to get more involved in blogging-- And it has been such a fun ride ever since! In away, I'm still in awe at all the new things I learn each and every day!

In actuality, I find there are many more enjoyable things about blogging, than the aspects that are not. Some of the things I adore most about blogging are:

The people I meet. I love, love, love meeting new people who share common interests of reading, genres, and the awesomeness of hot alphas! What? You know you do too!! Not to mention, look at how it connects you with people around the world! Some of the blogs that I frequent the most are not from the US. I love the idea that a common passion of books and ideas have brought me in contact with some of the most amazing people!!

The connection. I love the connection that blogging provides between authors, readers, and other bloggers! The interviews let us see the person behind the words and provides us with a more meaningful look at their work! You stop and think, 'Heh! They're a person, too, and I also share the same interests as ___, ___, and ___'. Blogging also provides an easier way to find authors and their past and upcoming releases. I've found myself on a couple of occasions going to a blog that I know would have a link to the author's web, or was having an interview so I could learn more about the author, as well as have a chance to get my hands on their book quicker if they were offering up a giveaway.

Opening New Doors. I appreciate, and value, how blogging lets you gain insight into books, authors, events, and news that a simple synopsis often doesn't give you, or the blurb on the inside cover about the author doesn't provide. From personal experience, there are many books, and authors, I would never have sought out if it weren't for blog hopping! I've read books that have tested my personal boundaries and have come away with a whole new view, appreciation, and even love of a new genre! And that's what reading is all about isn't it? Stretching yourself as reader? I can even see how this is starting to reflect in the way I blog, read, and connect with books now-a-days!!

Part of a Community. Blogging itself is a community -- and I think I've already hit on the different ways that it is. But, through blogging I've also branched into belonging to different book clubs (for example: Larissa's) and groups that also share a love of reading and the same genres and interests that I do.

There are really only two issues I have with blogging:

The time. There's simply not enough time in the day to read and blog hop as much as would like. I think everyone can relate to this! I get so frustrated when life gets hectic with work and school pulls me away.
The money. There is not enough funding in my bank to keep up with the amount of books I want in my hands, like.... yesterday! And all the insane amounts of recommendations does not help! But, the good thing about this, is it can often be rectified through giveaways and book swaps.

In conclusion, I think it's obvious that my pros of blogging greatly outweigh the cons! I should be baking Missie brownies for introducing me to this fun little world of blogging! I absolutely love it!!
Thanks Larissa for having me here, and would you mind if I took one of your... helpers back with me? I'm just saying it looks like you have your hands full and I could help you out. *shifty eyes* That's all.

The first blog featured today is “The Dip Files”:

        Hilda's Banner-2

I’ll let Hilda tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

"Hi everyone, my name is Hilda and I'm the proud blogger for The Dip Files. I started blogging in 2009 after reading Larissa Ione's books. She was such an inspiration, I started getting involved on the blogosphere and eventually decided to start my own blog.
I've had my ups and downs and to this day I'm still struggling to become a full time blogger. Or as committed as possible anyways.
My blog is vampire themed because I've always felt identified with them. You might find my blog to be a little different from what you are used to. I don't stick to just talking about books but also movies and sometimes even my day to day (but I try to keep it entertaining). Also, I rarely ever write reviews. I find that I am very bad at remembering details and summarizing. This might be cause I always read more than one book at a time and because I'm a really distrait person. Like, REALLY. Generally I just talk about what I liked or didn't like about a book and will say if I recommend it.... or not.
I love reading, I love writing and I love blogging. It's been one hell of a ride and I sure hope to become a better blogger in the future and be able to entertain and inform as much people as possible.
          Stop by,
          I don't bite.... hard. ;)
          Bite On,
          Hilda
          "

          #####

The second blog featured today is “Proud Book Nerd”:

          book nerd

I’ll let Heather tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging & what she loves and hates about it:

“I have always loved reading. I loved it so much that I ended up getting a degree in English (lit). I got a job working as a copy editor, and that (combined with required reading for my degree) stole my love of reading. I just couldn't get into reading anything. I wanted to NOT read on my days off! Then I discovered the Left Behind series. While the writing quality isn't very good, I was able to overlook that because the plot hooked me. After that, it was Harry Potter. Still, though, I didn't have much interest in reading beyond those. Then came The Crown Conspiracy by Michael J. Sullivan. I don't know what it was, but that book got me back into reading and I haven't stopped since! I started writing reviews on Goodreads.com for books that I won through their First Reads program. Then I started sharing my thoughts on other books I read. Then I started putting those on my personal blog. Before I knew it, my personal blog was getting cluttered, and Proud Book Nerd was born. It's my spin-off blog! And I just love it. The book-blogging community is so welcoming, friendly, and supportive. I'm so glad I found my way here! Proud Book Nerd is mostly reviews, some giveaways, and some thoughtful posts about reading in general. And, of course, the reading-related memes are there, too! ;-) The downside: Not saying no. I love to read, and I'm always happy to discover new authors (or at least new to me), so when I have a chance to review something that sounds interesting I almost always say yes. Then, of course, I find myself overbooked (pardon the pun), and panicking. So, for me, the worst part is learning to say no. Learning that I simply cannot read everything that comes my way. Not only that, but if I try, then I don't have time to read books I choose simply because I want to read them – like The Host or the Percy Jackson series. That is really the only thing I don't like (well, that and negative response to a negative review I wrote). Otherwise, I really love book blogging. It's fun, fulfilling, and full of adventure!”

Hey guys, welcome to my New {Book} Blogs on the Block weekly feature =) As I explained last week, I’m bringing the feature back but I’m changing it a bit.

Every Saturday I’ll have two blogs featured and instead of having an interview with them I’ll have a quote from each. I already have a lot of Blogs signed up for the upcoming weeks, but if YOU have a *New Book Blog and would like to be featured, please contact me at

The first blog featured today is “Book Junkie’s Bookshelf”:

          Untitled 16

I’ll let Jamie tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging:

“ I started my book blog on September 29.  I started it so that I could document what I've read and what I thought about it at the time.  I have a tendency to go back and re-read things after they've sat for awhile (if I re-read them to soon, I quickly lose interest) and I get to see how my opinion of the book has changed...either for the better or for the worse (in the case of say the Twilight series)  As an added bonus I get to share that
          information with other book bloggers.”

          #####

The second blog featured today is “That Chick That reads”:

          Untitled 18

I’ll let Leslie tell us a bit about her blog and Why & How she started Blogging:

“ My blog focus' on YA book reviews but I have really random post that I do every so often. I started blogging during the summer because my ex boyfriend hated the fact that all I would talk about were books and characters and so I thought it would be pretty cool to kind of discuss different types of books with people who like to read.”

          larissa@larissaslife.com

          #####

The first blog featured today is “Mash loves to read”:

          CMashBlogHeader

I’ll let Cheryl tell us a bit about how and why she started blogging:

“ I have always been an avid reader since in elementary school many years ago.  I stumbled onto a book blog in August, never even knowing they existed.  I am disabled due to multiple medical conditions but the worse one is called arachnoiditis which is a rare and painful spinal condition.  This is a result of having 3 prior spinal surgeries and am now facing another.  Some days the pain is so severe that I can't even accomplish minor household chores.  My youngest son introduced me to a sweepstakes site (something I also did not know existed) and there was a giveaway for a book from Lori's Reading Corner.  After reading Lori's blog and seeing her blog list and visiting more blogs from there, my list grew.  So impressed with what I saw and with plenty of time on my hands, I created a page (which was a miracle as I am computer challenged) as a "personal diary of books I read.  The more I learned, with the help of some very kind and patient book bloggers, I started to do more things blog related and loving every minute of it.”

          #####

The second blog featured today is “The House of The Seven Tails”:

          Untitled 1

I’ll let Amy tell us a bit about her blog:

“ My blog focuses primarily, although not exclusively, on books and cats, my two main interests.  I review books I've read once or twice a week and post about books I want to and hope to read.  I also participate in several book memes, such as "Tuesday Teasers" hosted by MizB at her blog, Should Be Reading and "Wondrous Wednesday Words" at Bermudaonion's Weblog..
Every week or so, I post about different cats, some that live with my husband and me in our home and some that just come by to visit and get something to eat.  My husband and I rescue stray and homeless cats and get them medical care.  And if they aren't too feral, we'll often succeed in finding them a home.  If they are feral and prefer living outside we make sure they're healthy and have enough food.
I also enjoy posting about movies I've seen in the theater or on DVD.  I participate in a movie meme on Mondays hosted by The Bumbles Blog which focuses on a different theme every week and is a lot of fun!”

The first blog featured today is “Cover to Cover”:

          jblog

I’ll let Jessica tell us a bit about her blog:

“My blog is a mixture of book reviews, book chat and my own personal stories about my journey of writing a novel. While I'm an avid reader and I love buying books, I'm a huge fan of my local library and local book sales. Most of the books I read I find perusing a shelf of books others donated or through my local library. As a college student, it's a bit hard to fit books into my budget, so I think it's pretty cool that I can find great books in other places.”

The second blog featured today is “Mrs. Q. Book Addic”:

          mrsq1

I’ll let Jennifer tell us how she started book blogging and why she does it:

“ I originally posted on Vox for a few years. I recently decided to move my blog and to focus on book reviews. I started book blogging because it was a way for me to track my progress. Friends and family are constantly asking me for book suggestions, and I thought my new blog would help them out. I am new to the book blogging community, but I've very happy to have discovered it.”
