Hello everyone! =) Top 5 Sundays time is here! YAY!

This week I’m taking a look at the authors I absolutely LOVE, but should get more love from readers in general!

They are authors that have had series canceled for lack of sales or simply that don’t get as much air time as I think they deserve.

What are yours?

This week’s results:

image

Genres You Will NEVER Read! = 6 (24%)

Favorite Underrated Authors! = 19 (76%)

The theme for today is:

But first, a little bit about this feature and the rules to join in…

Every Sunday I will post a TOP 5 list on the blog. It can be about anything and every week I'll have a new theme {You can vote on next week’s theme on my left sidebar!} and I will ad the Mr.Linky bellow the post so you can do a list with the theme and add you link to it.

Rules:

  1. Write a post listing your TOP 5 choices within the theme I chose (or was chosen on a poll) for the week.

  2. Mention this Blog on the post and link back to it.

  3. Fell free to use the Feature's image (there is a smaller size version of it bellow)

  4. After you've finished your post, add you link (of the post, not your blog's main page) to the Mr.Linky at the end of that week's post.

la banks title

Hello my dear readers!

Help me welcome here today an author that I love! L.A. Banks has been super awesome in answering my questions and offering a signed book for a giveaway!

Check it out…

d14651c88da0a27a1503d110.L._V192279755_SL290_

When did you first start writing?

A: 1993 - pubbed in 1996

Have you always enjoyed Fantasy?

A: Yes

Why writing Urban Fantasy?

A: It's grittier, more razor's edge.

Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?

A: The entire genre of horror cult classics--love a good "mmove." But I hate slasher flicks, go figure?

What is your favorite subject in the Urban Fantasy Realm?

A: Supernatural beings... vampires.

Favorites:

Favorite Paranormal themed Movie?

A: Oddly, there are two -- Frank Langella's Dracula, and Aliens -- very different movies executed really well script-wise and FX.

Favorite Paranormal themed TV Show?

A: Being Human

Favorite Paranormal themed Book?

A: That's a hard one, I like too many series :)

Favorite Author?

A: For the same reason, I cannot narrow that choice--I read everything from Toni Morrison, to biographies, to self help, to fantasy... my reading and music tastes are VERY broad.

Favorite Urban Fantasy Author?

A: Sherrilyn Kenyon

Favorite Genre that is NOT your own?

A: Metaphysics

Favorite one of your Books?

A: The Bitten

Who is your favorite of your own characters?

A: Carlos Rivera, because he's the most unpredictable, was hardest to write and reign in, and grew the most of all my characters I've ever written.

Which was the hardest to write?

A: Carlos Rivera, that's why he was my fav--see above.  He never followed my outlines as a writer and always took the story to a different place than I;d intended :)

What would you be if not a writer?

A: An economic development consultant... I've worked a lot of years helping women and monitority business get started.  It is VERY rewarding work.

If you Could be a Paranormal Being, Who would you be?

A: Probably a Fae... that way I'd be beautiful, have special powers and longevity, and wouldn't be dead or have to hurt people to survive.

If you could meet ay Urban Fantasy Character out there, Who would you like to meet?

A: Max Hunter from my Crimson Moon series (the guy is HOT, LOL!)

Quickies:

Werewolves or Shadow Wolves? --Shadow Wolves

Reading or Writing? --Writing

Print or eBook? --Print

Hardback or Paperback? –Paperback

Pepsi or Coke  --Coke

Mc D's or Burger King? --Neither, I don't do fast food on health & principle

YA novels or Adult novels?Adult

Library or Bookstore? --Bookstore, love libraries but prefer the book stores.

Summer or Winter? –Summer

The Movie or The Book?  --(ooooh... this is bad) --The movie, if the FX are slammin', but will def read the book

PNR or UF? --UF

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

A: Figuring out the character's voice and then letting their dialogue carry me.

What is your least favorite part?

A: Page 1 chapter 1--starting.

The Crimson Moon Series in your own words?

A: A fun wolf tale that puts a whole different spin on the werewolf mythos by adding a new breed to the species called, Shadow Wolves.

Any plans for more Books in the series {Say "yes" pretty please LOL}?

A: BIG SMILE... sadly no... because of the publisher's decision.

Can you talk a bit about your next projects? The new UF series and the YA book?

A: The next UF will be Surrender the Dark, coming out April 2011, by Pocket Books.  This is about angels that were trapped here on earth after the first big battle between the fallen and the Light, and now that 2012 is upon us, the battle will rage again with one woman standing in the balance.  The YA book, Shadow Walker, is a continuation of the Vampire Huntress Legends series... it deals with the next generation of Guardians--the teen children of all the older warriors who must now take up their parents mantle before all of their special powers have come in.  That will be a trilogy.

What are you working on right now?

A: Right now I'm working on the second book on the angels UF.

Do you have any advice or tip to those like me that want to become a published Author someday?

A: Not to give up and to sit down and get your thoughts on paper.  A lot of times we fret so much in our heads as writers and really develop lovely stories, but until we translate what's in our brains onto the page we can't show the work to an editor with the hopes of breaking through.  So I tell all writers, yes, think about your story for a while, but ultimately commit to "the chair" and sitting down to actually WRITE it, Big Smile!

Anything you would like to say to your fans out there?

A: I'd like to thank people for all their wonderful support over the years as I've continued to dabble in different genres.  You all are truly appreciated--BIG HUG!

Thank you so much for being here!

You are more than welcomed XXXOOO!

Celeste Jackson has fought all her life against a fog of hallucination and substance abuse, but it’s not until she meets her protector, Azrael, an angel who has left the safety of the Light, that she learns of the evil forces that have been trying to ruin her, and why. A fierce battle for control of the mortal realm is brewing, and only Celeste—with the help of theRemnant, her half-human, half-angel brethren—can stand in the way. Together, Celeste and Azrael must gather an army of sensitives to defeat the dark powers that have ruled humanity for centuries, but time is running out. If Azrael surrenders to his growing desire for Celeste, he risks being trapped among humanity forever. But the longer he stays, the harder she is to resist. To save the world, Celeste must draw on her own dark experiences with addiction to help Azrael overcome the one temptation that could possibly make him an eternal prisoner—his obsession with her.

I am a huge fan of L.A. Banks’ Crimson Moon series and I was really sad when i found out that the series was canceled. However, I was super excited about Banks’ newest Urban Fantasy venture, starting with Surrender The Dark and was extremely happy when I had a chance of getting the ARC for this new novel.I am happy to say that I was NOT disappointed.

I am usually not a fan of the Angels as supernatural beings, but L.A. Banks has created such an amazing world and characters that I couldn’t help but get lost in this incredible and compelling world of her creation.

Celeste has had a hell of a life, literally! All her life Celeste has been hounded and hurt by demons disguising of people around her and telling her that what she has been seeing her whole life is all part of he being schizophrenic, causing Celeste’s life go down on in a unstoppable spiral decent. Little does she know that is more between Heaven and Hell than she could ever know and that Heaven is looking out for her.

In the battle between Angels and Demons, for the Free-Will area that is Earth, time is running out and both sides are going against the clock to gather their last weapons for the final showdown. Celeste is one of those weapons and when Azriel, the Angel of Death, is sent to find and protect her, the scale finally has a chance to tilt to the side of good.

Surrender The Dark is an amazing novel about Faith, Hope and the ultimate battle between Good and Evil. This story has been told a thousand times, but L.A. Banks makes this her own and creates such a amazing characters and stories that you will fall in love all over again. An amazing addition to the Urban Fantasy Genre, Surrender The Dark is the beginning of an awesome new series that I recommend to any and all UF lovers out there. I can’t wait for more!4.5lovey

Series Review: Crimson Moon Series {Books #1-6} by L.A. Banks

crimsoon moon series

Bad Blood: Sasha Trudeau's solo assignment was successful, but when she returns to the camp after the mission, something is terrifyingly wrong: her entire elite team of werewolf survivors is missing. Left to her own devices, she scrambles to find them, but as readers of the Crimson Moon series know, nothing paranormal is easy. Sasha's quest for the truth leads her into dark alleys, not far from the deadly double dealings of vampires and the shadowy operations of government conspiracies.

I have never hidden my extreme love for Shifters, they are my favorite supernatural race followed by Vampires, taking a close second. The Crimson Moon series by L.A. Banks is all about the Shifter/Weres for me. Well, there are Vampires, Fae and a lot of other supernatural races, but for me is still all about the Shifters LOL.

Sasha Trudeau works for the government in a super secret team of Werewolves, working to eliminate terrorists. Well, they do have all the Werewolf ups, but they do not shift, because shifting means something went wrong. Means they have been taken by the rage and they need to be put down, so not shifting is good, right? When Sasha meets a man called Hunter claiming to be a Shadow Wolf, she realizes that the supernatural world is much more than she previously thought.

I LOVE L.A. Banks’ Crimson Series! I confess that I was bit overwhelmed and confused by the world building in the beginning, but after you get a grip on all the supernatural people and the different types of wolves, you get a chance to enjoy an awesome Urban Fantasy series with non-stop action and a great romance at it’s center.

There are the Shadow wolves {Native American origin} and there are the Werewolves {Asian origin}. The Shadow wolves are able to move through the shadows and Demon realms, but they need the protection of a special stone to keep from being attacked by Demon-infected wolves. Both Shadow Wolves and Werewolves can be infected and this one of the main problems that Sasha, Hunter and her team need to deal with. The mythology behind the shifter races is so unique in my opinion and one of my favorite things about this great series.

I love the cast of characters that make up this series. From Sasha’s team, to Hunter’s pack and including their allies the Fae, Crimson Moon is full of awesome characters that bring this amazing world L.A. Banks has created.

The Crimson Moon series is sure to please many Urban Fantasy fans out there and if you haven’t read it yet, you totally should! I can’t wait for the next installment in this brilliant series!
