I was waiting anxiously for JM and Xhex’s HEA and I have to say that The Warden (J.R.Ward) did not disappoint in the least, not only that, she has brought so much more to the table, that i am still reeling from the impact.
Ever since John Matthew laid eyes on Xhex at ZeroSum, we have been following his infatuation, turn into lust and finally become love. However, it wasn’t the right time and until now all JM had encountered when it came to Xhex, was rejection and pain.
Xhex is half-sympath and half-vampire, her sin-eater nature is her burden to carry and has only brought pain and suffering to her life. She does not believe she is entitled to love and happiness and actively refuses to open herself up.
I have never seen such two characters more perfect for each other than JM and Xhex, which is even more obvious in this book. They have both suffered so much in life, with similar pasts and pains, that I was thrilled to see them get their HEA at long last.
They are absolutely soul mates and its undeniable. Their chemistry is also something to fawn over. Their smexing moments were amazing and got me needing to fan myself, over and over again.
Besides the main couple in this book, there were a couple side stories that were extremelly captivating and in the forefront I have to say was Blay and Qhuinn’s journey. It was a hell of a ride, with a lot of ups and downs and plenty of heart break. The only thing that keeps me going with these two, is knowing that they are meant for each other and all that is left is being patient and wait for their Happily Ever After to unfold and bring joy to our Team Qhuay Hearts!
I have seen a lot of complaints about the side stories and flashback cuts throughout Love Mine and even though I understand that at times it can be annoying, specially when it leaves a cliffhanger for a chapter further, I absolutely loved these flashbacks and side stories, they were proof of Ward’s genius in storytelling in my opinion and the surprises she has in store had me taken totally by surprise and gasping in shock.
I love the BDB series and I am so happy to say that Lover Mine has taken the place as my favorite book in this series so far. Quite an accomplish to a series that is in its 8th book and counting. I can’t wait for Payne’s story next and I’ll be counting the days!
If you love the BDB series, you need to read Lover Mine like, right now! If you haven’t read this series yet, I am sorry for you for not having the Brothers be part of your life, just make sure to correct that mistake ASAP, I promise you won’t regret it!
