Hello Readers!
I am Terry Kate from Romance in the Backseat and I am lucky, lucky, lucky to have Larissa staying up here with me in NJ USA. Now what do I do with her? I picked her up after the Authors After Dark Conference where they wore her out with excitement. It is now very hard to compete!
Then we did something very American and experiential. We got lost in the middle of nowhere NY state. It did lead to a happy adventure. Apple picking!!! An trying apple cider, fresh made old fashion donuts, and an evening of homemade apple pie. Okay so I cheated on the crust - It was still a good pie.
Our first venture into the excitement of American Experiences went rather well. Now what?
We are thinking Manhattan of course. And also Atlantic City. I have never been myself, anyone have some suggestions? Where to got? Central Park? Clubs in the city? Restaurants? A good Comedy Club? I have been living in LA CA too long to know exactly where is the best place to go. Read on to help me and Larissa more...
What to feed Larissa?
More help Readers,
So what American specialties can not be missed? We are a melting pot of foods and influences here in USA. So here is what I have fed Larissa so far. Sonic Burgers, Diner Food, with others. What I have fed Larissa. Fresh picked apples, Enchiladas, apple pie, old fashioned donuts, and Irish Soda bread. Tonight I am thinking to make a German specialty, then I am a bit out of ideas. There is Chinese Food, Pizza, Taco Bell?

I'm from Western NY originally but have lived in the Cleveland area for over 26 yrs. Love you apple trip :).
Last year a place called MELT opened in Lakewood OH and a second spot opened this summer in Cleveland Hts. This place is amazing. The owner makes over 40 different types of grilled cheese sandwiches. This is not a diet friendly place but boy oh boy the food is delicious. Highly recommend you take your travels this way and check it out.
Me want!
Terry LOVE grilled cheese and I wish it was a shorter drive since it sounds amazing. I enjoyed the apple picking, it has been years for me and never for my guest Larissa.
I was going to take her to the library as well, just to check it out. You make me really want some grilled cheese.
It was really nice meeting you!

Hey, I'm in NJ as well.
Search google for NYC food tours - yes, they have those.
Don't miss the Statue of Liberty if you get a chance, and got to Times Square for the Tickets window to see what's available or just go to the theatre and ask if they have tickets.
Central Park is great (they give out tours as well). Not much for clubs, etc. The restaurants we go to are in N. Jersey because they're half the price (still expensive) then in NYC but the food is just as good, if not better (Fascino is our favorite).

Yes, you should take Larissa to the library, or at least a nice big book store.
I think you should definitely do pizza. Have you heard of Cici's Pizza? It might not be the best pizza ever, but it's a pizza buffet so you can try any kind of pizza you can think up (they'll make special orders), and it's cheap. There's one in East Rutherford, NJ, I don't know if that's anywhere near you.

Chinese food might be good too. Hope you have fun and I'd like to add my welcome to Larissa to the US.
Hey there,
Hello to other Jersey folk. We are at the last exit on the GSP North. Any nearby are welcome to join us for pizza. :-)
Thanks for the great suggestions.
The fun!
Terry Kate
It sounds like you are having lots of fun! Pizza is a must, as is Taco Bell. KFC should be on the list as well...and IHOP if you have one.
Damn. If only you were in Texas! Gawd, the food down here is amazing. LOL
Larissa, I hope you are having a great time!
Fun post. Love the pictures.
