Hey everyone! I am very happy to welcome to my little blog one of my favorite Paranormal authors ever! Being it Paranormal YA or Urban Fantasy, Rachel Caine certainly rocks!
Rachel has been awesome to answer my q’s and she is also offering a lucky winner a SIGNED copy of “Ghost Town”, the most recent Morganville Vampires book, YAY!

When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first original story (that wasn't for a class) when I was 14 years old.
Have you always enjoyed Fantasy? 
Always. It, and science fiction, were my favorite genres from a very early age.
Why writing Urban Fantasy?
I've always been writing it, even before it had a name (and when publisher thought it was too weird to sell!) ... I like the interaction of normal life with magic. If you think about it, novels we think of as "historical" were actually "urban fantasy" when they were written, like Dracula and Frankenstein. I think it's very natural.
Were there any Books, Movies or Writers that have inspired you?
Many, many, too many to list. If I had to choose, I'd say Roger Zelazny's Amber series in books, Indiana Jones in movies!
What is your favorite subject in the Urban Fantasy Realm?
I suppose I'm expected to say vampires, but I don't really know that I have one. I think it's probably not one subject, it's the flexibility of the genre as a whole.
Which do you prefer to write? Your adult novels of your YA ones?
I love them both, for different reasons, but I confess that the YA novels tend to be more fun!

Favorite Genre that is NOT your own? Historical mystery
Favorite one of your Books? Eeek, I don't know ... probably Feast of Fools.
Who is your favorite of your own characters?
It's a tie between Shane and Myrnin (in Morganville) ... Shane because I always know what he's doing, and Myrnin because I never know what he's doing. In Weather Wardens, I think it's probably Lewis, because he's secretly such a stud. :)
Which was the hardest to write?
Firestorm (Weather Warden) - because I was undergoing cancer treatments at the time.
What would you be if not a writer?
I'm pretty sure I'd be a musician, which was my first love.
If you Could be a Paranormal Being, Who would you be?
A genie (Djinn)!
If you could meet ay Urban Fantasy Character out there, Who would you like to meet?
No question about it: Harry Dresden (Jim Butcher)!

The Weather Warden/Outcast Season Series in your own words?
Joanne Baldwin is a woman on the run, after it seems that she's murdered her boss ... but she's not just any fugitive. She's part of an organization that controls the weather, and other forces of the earth ... an organization that's coming after her. She'll have to rely on her wits, her power, and a mysterious (and sexy) Djinn named David to outwit, outplay and outlast her enemies, who range from Wardens to Djinn to the vast (and hostile) intelligence of Nature Herself.

The Morganville Vampire Series in your own words?
Claire is a new advanced placement student at Texas Prairie University, a run-down, dusty college in Morganville, Texas. It's tough enough when she runs afoul of the local mean girls in a life-threatening confrontation, but things go from bad to worse when she discovers that Morganville isn't just a town with a secret ... it's a town with vampires who control every aspect of human life inside its borders. Salvation comes in the form of Claire's new friends at the Glass House -- Eve, Shane and Michael -- but each of them hides secrets of their own, and some of them are dangerous. Morganville brings Claire adventure, terror, love and an unexpected sense of belonging ... but no matter how bad things get, one thing is certain: in this town, it can always get worse.
Any plans for more Books in the Morganville Vampire and the Outcast series?
Outcast is ending with four books ... that was how I planned it! Morganville is definitely going to 12 books for sure. We'll see how it goes after that!
Are we going to see David and Jo in the next Outcast books?
Yes, in Book 4!
What is coming up next for you? 
I just finished the 10th Morganville book, BITE CLUB, and I'm working on the first book of a new adult urban fantasy series, The Revivalist. The first book is called WORKING STIFF.
What are you working on right now?
(I think I just answer that above. ;)
Do you have any advice or tip to those that want to become a published Author someday?
The best advice I have is to be patient. Writing is the most important part of being an author, but it's not the only part ... You have to learn the business of publishing, and how to build your career, and it takes time and stamina. Work hard, and learn. There's really no substitute!
Anything you would like to say to your fans out there?
My readers are the GREATEST. Thank you all, so much, for being so enthusiastic and excited about Morganville and the Wardens and Outcast and everything else ... it makes me so happy to be a writer, and it also makes me want to keep on going, even when things are tough. You keep me working, and you keep me honest. I thank you so much!

I LOVE Jo & David and was so sad that the series ended but am excited that they will be appearing in the last Outcast Season novel. I love Lewis too and want him to have a HEA, I hope one day we will see more of him.

Oh, I am already insanely curious about the new adult series, The Revivalist. I can't wait! I'm still stuck in the middle of the Morganville series, the waiting line for library orders is toooo looooong.

Great interview!! I met Rachel Caine once like 5 years ago when she came near the St. Louis area! She was at a convention but was kind enough to meet me in her hotel lobby so I didn't have to pay to go to the whole thing when I was only coming to see her!!
Haven't read her YA series yet, so this is a contest I really hope I can win!!

Morganville Vampire series introduced me in a world which I definitely love. Sometimes I wish they were fewer books, but then I remember the feeling when I finish a series I really like and I am glad that we will have more of these guys for a while :) Great interview ^^ Thanks Larissa♥

I just finished up to Ghost Town and was disappointred to find out my book store didn't have any copies left of Ghost Town, so winning it would be great!
